Smith’s Point Hike

Nantucket Walkabout | Nantucket, MA
December 11, 2019 @ 8:00 am

3 Hours

Smith’s Point, Nantucket’s westernmost sand extremity is a great hike to see gray seals during the winter, see nesting piping plovers, least terns and American oystercatchers during the summer and catch a glimpse of Tuckernuck Island. This is one of the longer hikes Nantucket Walkabout does. For the full hike out and back, allow at least two hours of trail time not counting getting to and from the trailhead. The hike can be longer or shorter depending on the group’s time constraints.
What to Bring
Please wear whatever walking footwear works for you, and we strongly recommend bringing the following items on our hike: bug spray, water, a snack, and sunblock lotion. You may also wish to bring a camera, binoculars and compass to see more, plus a lightweight waterproof jacket if it looks like rain!
