Graeme Durovich and Nigel Goss present an evening of Irish and Cape Breton style sets, with traditional airs, jigs, and reels, and sets that have a modern aesthetic from the ever expanding world of active tune writers. The duo will also perform a handful original tunes by Nigel.
Graeme is an expert fiddle player who plays the music from the heart. She learned her tunes on the Nova Scotia music scene, spending many years at festivals and sessions. Graeme brings the joy of that experience to Nantucket whenever possible, leading sessions at the Nantucket Community Music Center and performing occasionally at clubs and open mics around town.
Nigel is a versatile bassist/pianist, and emulates the traditional Irish sound while bringing his jazz and pop influences to the music. He enjoys the rich harmonic possibilities that simple elegant melodies offer, and puts a new touch on the rhythmic and chordal elements of the music.
