Join guest artist instructors from the Artists Association of Nantucket for an artistic retreat at Greater Light spotlighting artifacts and historical objects pulled from the NHA's collection for one day only. Treasures from the Vault features instruction in basic drawing elements including lines, texture, shading, and composition, as well as insider's access to treasures of Nantucket history. We are excited to welcome back Tom and his birds (a Eastern red-tailed Hawk named Shaka Zulu, and a Peregrine-Falcon mix named Houdini) for a fascinating talk about the art of falconry. After the talk (and plenty of time for questions) we'll head out to the big field to see the birds in action. If you missed his talk in February or just had a hard time hearing. Come on back... we'll have him on a microphone so everyone can lean about this amazing skill. Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka KIDS follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding five golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whoever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats: the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. Troy Towne Benefit
Troy, an otherwise healthy non-smoker, was first diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in 2013. He is currently being treated with a trial drug, which requires frequent trips to Massachusetts General Hospital. His wife Linda accompanies him on these near weekly trips to Boston, while his son Quinn attends Nantucket High School. Recently, another tumor was found on his kidney, which is being closely watched by his doctors. Please help support the Towne Family in their fight against cancer. Thank you so much!
