The Maria Mitchell Aquarium & Sea Shop is a seasonal marine science center located directly on Nantucket Harbor. Operated by the Maria Mitchell Association, the aquarium features locally collected marine species, interactive touch tanks, educational exhibits, and family friendly science programming focused on Nantucket’s coastal ecosystems. Visitors can explore local sea life while learning about the island’s marine environment through hands on experiences and marine ecology programs.
Island Weaves is a working Nantucket weaving studio creating handwoven textiles, rugs, throws, shawls, upholstery, and home décor using non mechanized floor looms. Located on Hooper Farm Road, the studio produces heirloom quality woven pieces crafted from natural fibers including silk, alpaca, mohair, linen, and cotton. Many pieces are custom woven in small batches, with designs inspired by Nantucket living and traditional textile craftsmanship.
Nantucket Community School Camp offers seasonal youth programs, enrichment classes, and summer activities designed for children of varying ages and interests. Programs include arts, sports, outdoor activities, STEM experiences, and educational workshops led by instructors and community partners across Nantucket.
