Join us for the screening of ‘Homeless in the Shadow of Santa Barbara’s Mansions,’ a 10-minute documentary by Jennifer Dworkin, followed by a discussion on homelessness and housing struggles on Nantucket.
The film profiles people, who are living in their cars due to the lack of affordable housing in Santa Barbara and find support through the Safe Parking Programs. It received funding through the Economic Hardship Reporting Project (EHRP) whose mission is to change the national conversation around poverty and economic insecurity.
EHRP Executive Alissa Quart and EHRP Managing Director David Wallis introduce the film and their organization. Anne Kuszpa and Wilda Falconer of Housing Nantucket and Janis Carreiro of the Food Fuel Rental Assistance Program join the discussion to put this issue into local context. There will be a Q & A with the audience at the end.
