This tour visits three historic homes and gardens, exploring two centuries of life and architecture on Nantucket. The 60-minute tour offers a glimpse into the lives of some of the people that have occupied the island.
The first home visitors will see is the Hadwen House, a beautiful Greek Revival home that epitomizes the great wealth that was made during the whaling era.
The second house is the Thomas Macy House, originally built in the late 18th century and remodeled in 1832. The house was purchased in 1947 and lovingly furnished by the Harris-Tuppancy family.
The third stop is Greater Light, originally a livestock barn, and remodeled by Gertrude and Hanna Monaghan, two eccentric Quaker sisters and lovers of the arts.
