The current global political landscape appears to favor a world-wide movement towards strong men and autocracy. In America, in the past citizens have embraced the US Constitution and its democratic norms and values, which has protected us from this tendency. But, is that still true today?

The discussion for this session will examine the strength of our present democratic underpinnings and what the future of ‘the world’s foremost democracy” might look like. It also will ask the question: ‘How Healthy Is Our Democracy?’

Peter Panchy taught history at Nantucket High School for over 20 years as well as college at the graduate and undergraduate levels. He has a B.A. from Harvard and a Masters of Education from Lesley University.

Free admission.
