Wilda recently fell in love with Herman Melville’s use of the language, his psychological and political insights, and his interesting characters. She took a continuing education class on Moby-Dick at The Newberry Library in Chicago and turned her Moby-Dick-inspired poems into a full-length book entitled Pequod Poems: Gamming with Moby-Dick.

A graduate of American University and the University of Illinois, Wilda’s first book, Szechwan Shrimp and Fortune Cookies: Poems from a Chinese Restaurant, was published by RWG Press in 2008. Wilda has published widely in journals, websites, newspapers, and anthologies, and has won awards for formal poetry, free verse and haiku. She has served as president of both the Illinois State Poetry Society and Poets & Patrons, a Chicago poetry organization for which she continues to serve as Workshop Chairperson.
