The Plein Air Festival is an outdoor painting event where artists paint together along the historic Nantucket harbor and surrounding area. Each day new wet works hang for sale at the Artists Association of Nantucket Cecelia Joyce and Seward Johnson Gallery on Washington Street. The poplular Frank Swift Chase Awards will be presented at the June 21 closing reception at 6 p.m. at the AAN Gallery.
This year’s festival will serve as a kick-off event for the 75th anniversary and a year full of festivities. “The 75th Anniversary is an important moment in AAN’s history,” said Courtney Bridges, AAN’s Executive Director, “We are proud to be celebrating all that AAN has accomplished over these 75 years, and excited to kick it off with the popular Plein Air Festival. We also look forward to our future of continuing to support and promote Nantucket’s thriving art community.”
Artists Association of Nantucket offers two outdoor art shows every summer. A beloved tradition dating back to 1930, the Sidewalk Art Show is the oldest of its kind in the U.S. and is a wonderful opportunity to meet twenty of Nantucket’s finest artists. The conversations will be memorable as you stroll past rows of fine art, under blue skies and a canopy of green in downtown Nantucket. Rain date for each show will be the Sunday of the same weekend
